Falling
Why are birds falling from the sky? National Geographic
Falling through Seven Generations C.24
Started in 2022, the series Falling acts as a point of entry for the viewer of the loss and wanton destruction of birds and their habitat. Holding birds as a cultural symbol of peace and strength throughout human civilization, our current behaviors of profit and comfort pivots to war with fires, drought, habitat loss and floods.
The Seventh-Generation exhibition presents an opportunity to engage the front. Selecting two images from the Falling series, Impact c 24 and Fleeing c24, archival prints on Arches paper is a layered meditation. Its fragile nature slips, shifts and reappears suggesting geological time. The limited archival prints are hand signed leaves of the Falling series of origin: burnt organic habitat and abandoned nests on torched wood.
